We just had to get out of the RV today. We’ve been cooped up too long in front of our computers, focusing on work. It had been raining and snowing last night and wasn’t supposed to get above freezing today. The sky was gray and gloomy, but we didn’t care, we had to get away. Springfield, MO traffic was awful because of holiday shopping, so we decided to go to Chadwick, MO to be away from the city.
It was a perfect afternoon. We didn’t want to contend with all the dogs, so we just took Tucker. The three of us drove around a bit in the Mark Twain National Forest before we parked and hiked a trail. There was more snow there than in Springfield. The snow covered trees were simply beautiful. Even though the temperature was in the upper 20’s, we stayed quite warm on our hike. Tucker did a fine job on our 2.6 mile round-trip hike. We only saw two other people on the trail. The two guys on four-wheelers stopped for a moment to visit. They were from north of Kansas City and purposely drove down for the weekend to camp and trail ride in the snow. See, we aren’t the only ones that love the snow!
Again, perfect!! A beautiful, quiet walk in the woods. Someday, we’ll live in the country, but until then, we’ll have to be sure to make time to get away from town and just enjoy nature. We got home just after dark and Tucker is, well…tuckered out.
