Just outside of Deming, New Mexico is the quaint Rockhound State Park. We arrived around 4pm and we were glad that there were plenty of camping sites available. They have several full hookup sites, but we opted for a non-electric site. We were at the top of the hill and had the area all to ourselves. All the campsites are clean and well cared for with the rocks around the campsite freshly raked.
We enjoyed a nice sunset and loved watching the wildlife. We saw a roadrunner, several bunnies, birds, lizards, and even a snake.
It’s a very quiet campground. It was almost like we were all by ourselves. We had a great night’s sleep, only waking up occasionally because of wind gusts, which weren’t all that bad.
Overall we were very impressed with the park. The nature trails were nice and the bathrooms were extremely clean. We were a little disappointed that the visitor center was closed during our stay, but we were up and ready to leave before they opened at 10am.
