We arrived to North Carolina’s Crystal Coast a week ago to settle down and concentrate on work and tour the community a little bit. Rain has been a constant fixture since we parked at Whispering Pines RV Park. With all this rain, I have to say there are no excuses to avoid work. Even though work is going well and we’ve gotten things accomplished, we find it hard to focus and we are stir crazy. We have gotten out and seen a few things when there’s been a break in the weather, but for some reason when we are at home we find ourselves bored out of our minds. This is quite evident in our eating habits for the week. We can’t stop stuffing our faces. Clearly, it is time for sunshiny days and hiking. We also think we need to change things up and be working with people. We are looking forward to our first workcamp position, whenever and wherever that may be.
We are here for one more day, then we’ll be moving on up the Outer Banks. We decided to stay at The National Parks Service’s Ocracoke Campground for the next few days. There are no hook-ups, but the price was what we were looking for. This will be the first time we’ll be dry camping for more than a day. I’m anxious to see how that goes because I would like to experiment on dry camping and working.
The forecast for the weekend shows a break in the rain. Thank goodness. I think I do better focusing on work when there’s some sunshine. I seem to hurry up and get everything done that I need to so I can be outside. When it’s raining, I seem to drag everything out.
