Got up early at Buzzards Roost Campground. It was full up with campers. There’s on 5 total spots though!
Left and on the road by 8:28 eastern time. Made our way up 66 hwy northbound towards Sulphur, Indiana. Then got on hwy 237 north through English, Indiana. Then it was hwy 37 north through Paoli, Orleans, and almost to Mitchell, Indiana. We had stopped at a Dollar General in Orleans to figure out what we wanted to do. That took all of about 2 minutes then we were back on the road northbound.
Just outside of Orleans we came upon a terrible wreck that had just happened between a Dodge truck and a little car. The car was still spewing radiator fluid out. No police or rescue on the scene yet. Fire trucks and ambulance and helicopter came. One person was life flighted to the nearby hospital. I don’t think the ones survived the crash. We were there just a bit over 3 hours before the crash was cleaned up and the road was back open.
Gayla did get some weaving in while waiting on the road to open up.
Stopped in Mitchell, Indiana for some fuel. Clifford got 11.5 mpg. Not too bad for a big guy.
We persevered up to Bedford, Indiana and stopped to fill up with groceries before heading into the Charles C. Deam Wilderness for camp this evening.
After another short drive we ended up at Blackwell Horse Camp. I gotta say that this is a very nice place for free camping.
It had rained all day which made for some soggy ground. Clifford did spin a bit getting maneuvered around so I did actually engage 4wd in low range to minimize wheel spin in this beautiful free camping ground.
