Had a nice campsite at Pinewoods Recreation Area just outside of Elsinore, Missouri. We woke up about 4am to the sound of the dogs stirring. Gayla let them outside for a few minutes to let them go do their business. After that I was wide awake.
I caught up on my social media feed and realized that it was our anniversary today. I made a post earlier so we wouldn’t forget it this time.
I stepped outside about 5 AM to some dense fog and it was mysteriously quiet and beautiful out. Only got down to 30°F outside last night.
I came back in and made coffee while Gayla slept in. I’m such a good husband.
We took the dogs for a walk around the campground and snapped a few pictures.
Left eastbound on hwy 60 around 9:00 am local time. Stopped I poplar bluff, Missouri and fueled up.
Made it to the first rest stop In Tennessee about 12:20 pm local time. A fella named Mike struck up a conversation about Clifford. We chatted for a while but really had to go to the restroom. We also let the dogs out and made us a pot of coffee and had a snack.
Stopped and got a fuel in Mayfield, Kentucky at 2:20 pm local time.
Made it to Golden Pond Visitor Center at Land Between The Lakes about 3:15 pm. We went and snagged a few permits for camping and set off to our campsite. Somehow we ended up at Redd Hollow campground in what they call the “southern portion”!
It wasn’t too busy and I was done driving for the day.
Walked the dogs and made us a salad with some artichoke Gouda. Mmm. Later on I cooked up some chicken and hamburger for lunch tomorrow on the go.
We did set out the Starlink for some internet testing.
I activated POTA K-3792 on Ham Radio. It’s a new state for me to activate from. It is also the ARRL International DX Contest this weekend too. The airwaves are busy!!!
