Woke in the middle of the night to a very strong sulphur smell in the air. Don’t know what it was or where it came from. All I know it was not coming from us.

Finally got up at 6 AM. It was 52° inside Clifford. Finally it has got chilly.

We had packed up and set off west again on hwy 2.

Stopped in Shelby, MT at the grocery store to see about water for our refillable jugs. Their water machine was out of order.

Got to Cut Bank, MT and we were almost in their parade. Found out they were celebrating Lewis and Clark Days. Beautiful town.

Stopped at Camp Disappointment. This is the farthest north that the Lewis and Clark expedition made it to. There was a monument placed there I believe in 1902. It has lots of graffiti and even some bullet holes on one it.

Browning, MT was next stop and we needed to fuel up. While I fueled up Gayla went to the grocery store to see about water for our jugs. The parking lot was littered with stray dogs all over the place. I’ve never seen so many stray dogs in one place roaming around.

Gayla came out if the grocery store and said there was a sign saying don’t feed the stray dogs. Also the water was $5.99 per gallon. We had about 10 gallons left in our jugs out of 20 gallons total so we persevered and saved our money.

Still following hwy 2 westbound we were on the edge of Glacier National Park and Lewis and Clark National Forest.

Stopped at Goat Lick Overlook and let the dogs out. This is a place the mountain goats lick the rocks that has minerals in them. We had a snack and relaxed a bit.

Stopped at the Glacier Visitor Center. Gayla got a few items and a stamp for our passport.

Then we were in line to the west entrance to Glacier National Park. Took a left on Camas rd. Followed Camas rd to Polebridge Mercantile store.

They have the tastiest huckleberry bear claws and turnovers.

Talked to a local there that was interested in Clifford. He told us about Bowman Lake and that we should visit it. He said his neighbor works the entrance to the park just up the road. He’s an old hippie just like him.

Yes up the road we found his neighbor working the entrance.

The road to Bowman Lake got wicked pretty quickly and narrow too. Lots of switchbacks. About 1.5 miles on the road we seen a black bear. Gayla barely got it on video. It was a healthy size too.

The road to Bowman Lake is about 5.2 miles long. We met a few vehicles along the way. Most of them slammed on the brakes when they seen Clifford. It was tight but you can fit two cars side by side on the road.

Once a Bowman Lake we found us a camp spot. Spot number 22 was flat enough for us. We had a snack/supper. I setup HF radio and activated the park with 18 contacts on 3 different bands. Gayla did some crocheting on a project. Tried Starlink to no avail. Too many trees this time.

About 10pm we went down to see the lake for the first time. It was majestic. It didn’t even look real. I did some long exposure photography with the big camera to stitch together a panoramic image.

Got back to Clifford about 10:50 pm and called it a night.
