Had a chilly morning because we ran the air conditioner all last night. 59° inside Clifford.
We got gathered up and hit the road towards Theodore Roosevelt National Park North Unit. The South Unit was amazing so we decided to go to the North Unit too.
This side does not look like it gets as many people visiting it. It has some pretty neat features that the south side does not have.
The road is a one way in one way out and is a 28 mile round trip drive.
At the end at Oxbow Overlook we decided that we wanted to spend the night at the park.
Juniper Campground is a nice campground. Half of it is first come first served and the rest is reservations only at $14 per night. No hookups. No amenities other than really nice restrooms. Some sites have plenty of shade while others so not.
Gayla did some craftiness this afternoon and I was wiped out by the heat so I snoozed a bit.
I cooked up some chicken and 1/4 lb beef dogs. Then sat back and watched the last minute campers come rolling in to try to find that perfect spot.
I ended up activating this park on HF radio. Got 40 contacts. Spain, Brazil and Canada all confirmed. I was only running 10 watts of power on the 20 meter band. A successful activation.
We sat outside till about 11pm then went to bed. It was a big huge moon tonight.
