We came back to Florida to stay for a few weeks to work and visit with our friends.  Our good friends, Hippy and Blonde Laramee invited us to park the bus in their driveway in Indian Rocks Beach.  We had our doubts that the bus would even fit, but Hippy reassured us that it would.  Sure enough, Robert did a wonderful parking job.

IRB has a city ordinance that no one can live in an RV parked in a resident’s driveway, therefore we invaded the Laramee’s home and became couch surfers.  I moved my office into their sunroom and we have ended up basically using the bus to corral all our belongings so that we wouldn’t clutter their house up too much.  Our three wiener dogs aren’t used to being around other dogs.  The Laramees have two dogs, Bones and Herman.  After about a week or so, with a few confrontations to see who was boss, it seemed that all five dogs could get along.  Wow, we were impressed and grateful to have some peace and quiet when relaxing in the evening.

We love IRB and feel right at home.  The backyard is adjacent to the intercostal and we are only a few blocks from the beach.  We tootled around the neighborhood in the family golf cart, going to Pinky’s for ice cream often.  The boat rides were so pleasant.  We would be perfectly content to just stay on the island and never cross the bridge to the traffic of Largo or St. Pete.

The Laramee’s have introduced us to some wonderful people.  We go with them to their traditional Friday Night Sunset, which consists of meeting up with friends on the beach and having a great time visiting and watching the sunset.  Then most of us wind up at The Red Lion for a few drinks and continued visiting.

During our stay, Robert has picked up his guitar and began playing again at Mahuffer’s.  It seems as though many folks had missed his playing.  It’s been fun going out, hearing him play, and seeing everyone enjoy his playing.

We are so appreciative of the Laramees for their generosity especially for such a long stay.  Campgrounds so close to the beach are few and far between in that area and we were able to do so much and be so close to our friends.

Our five weeks in IRB has come to an end and we are back on the road again to Missouri for a wedding.   We’ll have a few weeks to get to our destination, so we’ve decided to take a long loop up the east coast.  In between work and driving we hope to see a few cool things on the way.
