At the beginning of the month, we flew to Florida for a quick trip. As we traveled, we were reminded why we choose not to call Florida our full-time home.

We lived in Florida full-time for four years, so we got a good idea that we didn’t want to buy any property and hang our hats there permanently. So, with reasons we don’t want to live there, what keeps bringing us back?

In reality, I don’t think we’d ever even consider going back to Florida, even for a visit, if it weren’t for our Florida family. After all, there are so many places we haven’t even explored yet. Our Florida family aren’t blood relatives, they are people we are so fortunate to know and love like family (as dysfunctional as we may be). A job originally took us to the St. Pete area in 2008, but it’s the bond with the folks there that keep us going back.
At the beginning of the year, we were delighted to get a call from Nikki (Robert’s “sister”) saying that she was getting married. We just knew that we couldn’t miss that special occasion. We couldn’t be gone for long, so instead of heading down in the Alfa, we opted to fly down for the week and spend as much time as we could with those that we miss so much.
Nikki wanted Robert to play one song for her at the reception. I don’t think Roly Poly is done for many father daughter dances. It was great!. It came as a total surprise to her dad, Hippy.
We had a full schedule for the week, that was for sure. Between Robert playing at Mahuffer’s three nights, keeping up with client work, visiting, and doing a bit of site-seeing, we were utterly exhausted. We were pretty much in a fog the entire time, but loved every minute of it.
Even though we have so many other parts of the country to explore, we will definitely be back because no matter how long we are away, it is wonderful how we can pick up where we left off with our Florida family. LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
