Today were back traveling in Clifford for the weekend to Oklahoma. Gayla wanted to go see Fort Gibson Historic Site and maybe a few other places around.

We left Springfield area about 9:45 AM and headed southwest on HWY 60 to Seneca area. Then we got on HWY 10 southbound.

We found our way to Tahlequah, Oklahoma on a video call with the grandson. He wanted to wish Grandma a Happy.

After eating a burger and fries we found where Gayla needed to go to get her Cherokee Nation Picture ID Card. She said it was so nice and polite in there. Everyone was so helpful too. I stayed outside with the dogs.

We needed to get to a place to stay for the night so we headed towards Wildwood Campground on Fort Gibson Lake.

Upon arrival we were greeted by Henry the camp host. He said that the campground is closed. It’s an Army Corp of Engineers campground. He said it’s the first time in 5 years that he’s been here that they closed. We chatted for about 20 minutes about Springfield, Missouri and some of the people that we knew.

After getting back in Clifford we headed towards another campground that we had as a backup plan. We stopped in Muskogee and fueled up.

Spaniard Creek was the campground we were headed to. Upon arrival there, it too was closed. I guess all Army Corp Campgrounds are closed in Oklahoma.

I found us an overnight spot about 15 miles away from Spaniard Creek Campground called Summers Ferry Park.

It was $4 a night without electricity on the waterfront of the Arkansas River just outside of Gore, Oklahoma.

Roughly a 250 mile day of driving.
