Woke up at 6 AM to 43°F. That’s a nice temperature for August.
Gayla had to finish up some stuff on the computer before we left.
We’d made our way to Grant-Korhs Ranch just a bit before 10:00 am. Had ourselves a snack and proceeded to do touristy things.
Roger gave us a brief overview of the ranch and asked if we wanted to tour the main house and we said yes!
No charge for the ranch or the main house. Just no video or pictures inside the main house. Everything else is fair game on video and pictures.
After the self guided tour we came back and let the dogs out and made our decision on what to do next.
After not much thinking we had to have some lunch. We settled on K & M Burgers in Deer Lodge, MT. Gayla had the Squatch burger and I had the Yeti Burger with Gouda cheese and fries. That satisfied my burger craving for another few months.
We walked around Deer Lodge. Found an antique shop and an ice cream shop. Huckleberry Cheesecake ice cream was in a waffle cone and it was tasty.
On the way out of town we had stopped by the post office to drop off some mail for back east.
Headed south out of Deer Lodge we got on to I-90.
After a 7 miles of washboard to get to Beaverhead National Forest we found ourselves a campsite on Racetrack Rd. Our campsite is right next to Racetrack Creek. Beautiful place.
Gayla did some weaving on her inkle and I did an activation of POTA park US-4499. I actually made contact with my brother Earl with just 10 watts and a wire.
I did some pictures of around camp and down by the creek. Wow it’s a beautiful place.
