Woke up to 48°F which is very nice sleeping weather in August.

We made coffee and lounged around before heading to the mountains.

First stop was in town of Ennis, Montana. Gayla needed a post card for some people back on the east coast and she happened to find a Carmel long John doughnut too. Coincidence???

On the way outta town we dropped the post card in the Mail Drop at the post office then proceeded towards Virginia City, Montana on hwy 287.

At Sheridan, MT we went east on E. Hamilton St. which turned into Forest Road 111.

Our destination was 12.5 miles on this forest road. The last 6 miles was in 4wd low range in 1st gear. It was slow going and a bit steep in some places but not as bad as the other day up by the kilns.

We arrived here about 12:15 pm. Hung out for about an hour and decided that we’d stay here and make this area for our work week. Branham Lake is where we are. It’s in the Tobacco Root Mountain Range of the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest.

This mountain range has 43 peaks that rise above 10,000 feet in elevation. This place seen significant gold mining in 1880’s-1930’s.
